Press Release: Becker Forum at WCHS Friday, July 20

Curator Juan H. Espino hangs a painting of the Stourbridge Lion loaned for the current exhibit by the Hotel Wayne.

The Friday, July 20, ࢀœPlain Speakingࢀ program at the Wayne County Historical Society will feature a panel of Wayne County residents who knew Wayne County artist Howard Becker and who own examples of his unique work. So far, the panel includes Juan H. Espino, Guest Curator of the current Becker exhibit at the WCHS museum, former Honesdale mayor and restauranteur Dick Kreitner, author and advocate for the arts Christine San José and educator Dorothy Schmitt Kieff, whose family farm was the subject of many Becker paintings. Other panelists may be added, and as always at ࢀœPlain Speakingࢀ talks, audience participation is encouraged.

All talks are at 5 pm on Fridays at the Wayne County Historical Society, 810 Main St., Honesdale, and last approximately one hour. The July 27 speaker will be Ab Rutherford on ࢀœHave You Ever Heard of Hebron County, PA?ࢀ; for more information, call the Wayne County Historical Society at 570-253-3240 or email Gloria McCullough at wchspa@ptd.net.
