Press Release: Interior, 2009 Ornament

The Wayne County Historical Society's collectible ornament for 2009 commemorates the 150th birthday of the Old Stone Jail, located between 10th Street and the Wayne County Courthouse in Honesdale. The ornament will be available for $17.50 plus tax at the jail's open house on Saturday, August 1, from 10 am to 1 pm. Visitors to the open house will enjoy a free tour of the somewhat forbidding stone structure, which housed Wayne County's miscreants from 1859 to 1935 and is now maintained as a historic site by the Wayne County Commissioners and the Wayne County Historical Society. The ornament can also be purchased at the Wayne County Historical Society, 810 Main St., Honesdale (Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm), by phone or email with a credit card at 570-253-3240 and wchshop@ptd.net or on the society's website, waynehistorypa.org.
