Press Release: Latournous DVD Premieres July 6

A new documentary DVD, "A LEGACY OF GLASS," will premiere Friday, July 6, in the Green Room of the former Dorflinger factory on Route 6 in White Mills. The documentary features Wayne County glass expert Ray LaTournous and his daughter Kathy, who was interviewed while cutting in her Hawley studio. Mr. LaTournous is recognized for his artistry in glass and is an expert in Brilliant Period glass (1876-1917) and a leading authority on Dorflinger glass.

Recognizing the need to preserve the history of Wayne Countyࢀ™s glass industry, Ray tells of his years as a glass artist and curator of the Dorflinger Glass Museum. With his deep family roots in the history of glass, he has pursued his passion through his 84 years and is now sharing his knowledge through this DVD.

The premiere venue and refreshments are provided by Jim and Bette Asselstine, and the cost to attend is $10 per person or $25 to attend and receive a copy of the DVD. The deadline for reservations is June 15; they can be made at the Wayne County Historical Society, 810 Main St., Honesdale, and can also be purchased with a credit card online at WayneHistoryPA.org, 570-253-3240 or wchshop@ptd.net.
