Press Release: Old Jail Open House

A record crowd visited Honesdale's Old Stone Jail at the first open house of the season on Saturday, June 4, 2011. The historic hoosegow will be open to the public again this Saturday, July 2, with "jailer" Dick Kreitner and his volunteer posse ready to guide visitors through the jail. Admission is free, and the jail, located between the Wayne County court house and 10th Street, will be open from 10 am to 1 pm. The Wayne County Historical Society and Wayne County Commissioners join forces to present this outstanding local attraction monthly during the warm weather months.
