Press Release: First Wednesdays Continue at Falls Port

A 1915 New Year's Eve celebration at the bar of the Falls Port Inn, which will show its support of the Wayne County Historical Society on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.

The Wayne County Historical Society's "Tastes of Wayne First Wednesdays" fund raising promotion continues at the historic Falls Port Inn and Restaurant, 330 Main Ave., in Hawley on Wednesday, June 1, after a successful launch at J. J. Mack's on May 4. The Falls Port Inn, built by railroad tycoon Baron von Eckdorg in 1902 and completely renovated by the current owners, Stephen Smith and Mary Grieve Smith, received a Wayne County Historical Society Historic Preservation Award in 2007.

A generous portion of their June 1 proceeds will be donated to the Wayne County Historical Society, and diners are encouraged to let the Falls Port Inn know how much their generosity is appreciated by members and friends. The Inn's menu can be viewed on their website, www.thefallsportinnandrestaurant.com, and the number for reservations is 570-226-2600.
