Volunteers, coordinated by Richard Kreitner, will be on site during the above times to welcome the public inside and to provide historical information about the building and the Wayne County Historical Society. If you would like to be a jail docent please contact Richard or Sally Talaga at 253-3240 or email@example.com.
Other jail museums exist, including the one in Jim Thorpe, PA, a popular tourist attraction. In 2001 it had 14,000 visitors and employed eleven high school students as summer docents.
The Commissioners of Wayne County made this possible by giving approval to the Wayne County Historical Society to open their historic building to the public. Wayne County Historical Society’s full schedule of events for 2006 can be viewed at www.WayneHistoryPa.org.
