On Saturday, October 23, in a ceremony at the Wayne County Historical Society's headquarters at 810 Main Street, Honesdale, Lars and Cynthia Hanson were presented with a 2010 Historic Preservation Award for their adaptive reuse and revitalization of the Hanson Gallery and Decorium on Main Street in Honesdale. At one time the site of Van Deusen's Candy Shop, birthplace of the beloved Garage Mix candy, the building had passed through several owners before the Hansons came to Honesdale and rejuvenated the site. The new business features fine art, art supplies and unique decorative items in a building that has been completely and accurately restored inside and out.

Nominations for these awards are accepted throughout the year and everyone is invited to participate. Ground rules and nomination forms are available online at waynehistorypa.org or at the museum, 810 Main St., Honesdale.
