Press Release: WCHS Historic Preservation Awards

The Wayne County Historical Society's Historic Preservation Awards for 2009 will be presented at an open house on Saturday, October 24, at 4:30 pm at the main museum at 810 Main St., Honesdale. This year's recipients are: For restoration, Edward Ahern and David Hernandez for the Joseph Atkinson house, Hawley, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Ahern for their house on River St., Hawley; for adaptive reuse, Paul Ludick and Bill Anton, Maude Alley, Honesdale; Dr. & Mrs. Walter Barbe, the Locktender's House, White Mills; Kathy Schloesser, the Eliphalet Kellogg house, and Warren and Janet Heinly, the James Manning house, both in Bethany.

A Historic Advocacy Award will be presented to the Hawley Silk Mill project for efforts to preserve the historic Bellemonte Silk Mill for contemporary use. The public is invited to attend the presentation. Refreshments will be served and guests are invited to walk through the expanded museum.
