On Saturday, October 23, in a ceremony at the Wayne County Historical Society's headquarters at 810 Main Street, Honesdale, Lorie and Josh Sheard were presented with a 2010 Historic Preservation Award for their adaptive reuse and revitalization of the Boyd's Mills General Store and Post Office. Originally owned by Thomas Y. Boyd, owner of the mills for which the settlement was named and since the 1930s owned by the Sheard family, the former store and post office has been lovingly restored for use as a business office and "mini-museum" for the exceptional artifacts found in the store's attic during the restoration.

Nominations for these awards are accepted throughout the year and everyone is invited to participate. Ground rules and nomination forms are available online at waynehistorypa.org or at the museum, 810 Main St., Honesdale.
