The topic for the "Plain Speaking Talk" this Friday, September 7, at the Wayne County Historical Society is the Spencer Steam Tractor, conceived and created in the 1870s and 1880s by local farmer David Spencer. The speaker is Linda Dix Lee, Chair of the society's Agriculture Committee and a direct descendant of David Spencer. Linda has spearheaded the effort to retrieve and restore the historic tractor. All free "Plain Speaking" talks are scheduled for 5 to 6 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Wayne County Historical Society, 810 Main St., Honesdale. For more information, call 570-253-3240.
